FUELR energy gels NZ: choose the right pouch

A practical guide to the six FUELR pouches carried at NZ Supps, with carbohydrate and caffeine formulas clearly separated.

FUELR has two gel formulas on the NZ Supps shelf. The Isotonic gels provide carbohydrate for longer work. The Caffeinated gels are a separate performance product centred on caffeine. Choose the job first, then the flavour. A gel-shaped pouch is not enough to tell you whether you are buying fuel for your muscles or a stimulant for alertness.

The short answer

  • For carbohydrate during a long run, ride or event, FUELR's Isotonic gel is the relevant line. The brand lists 25g carbohydrate per pouch.
  • For a caffeinated option, the Caffeinated gel lists 200mg caffeine per full pouch on FUELR's official page.
  • Do not count a Caffeinated gel as one of your 25g carbohydrate servings. The pouch is labelled zero sugar and FUELR does not list a carbohydrate amount for that formula; check the current NZ pouch panel before counting any carbohydrate from it.
  • NZ Supps lists four Isotonic flavours and two Caffeinated flavours. All six had stock at our 23 September 2026 check; the live product page is the final check.

Which FUELR flavours are at NZ Supps?

The Isotonic choices are Raspberry, Grape, Orange and Cola. The Caffeinated options are Blue Raspberry and Lemon Lime. These are separate single-pouch product pages. FUELR sells more flavours and multi-packs on its own site; they are not automatically part of the NZ Supps range.

Start with the formula that matches your plan. Once you have that right, a familiar flavour is a sensible first try. Names give a direction, not a guaranteed taste or a ranking. A race is a poor first test of any new gel, even one with a flavour you expect to like. Try the exact pouch during training and see how it fits with your drinks and other food.

What makes the Isotonic gel different?

FUELR lists 25g hydrolysed carbohydrate in its Isotonic gel. That is a countable amount of fuel. If you are planning how much carbohydrate to carry for a long session, one Isotonic pouch contributes 25g to that plan, subject to the current physical label. The brand describes its gel as isotonic and says it can be taken without drinking water at the same moment. That is about consuming the pouch; it does not remove the need to drink during a long or hot effort.

The current FUELR design has a resealable nozzle. It can be useful if you prefer to take the gel in stages rather than squeeze the whole pouch at once. Closing the cap will not make an opened gel sterile or change its best-before directions, so follow the pack's storage advice. What matters most is that you know how the pouch opens and how its texture feels while moving.

What makes the Caffeinated gel different?

FUELR lists 200mg caffeine from green tea extract, plus beta-alanine and citrulline, in its Caffeinated gel. The official page gives 3g beta-alanine and 6g citrulline for its current formula. The pouch front says zero sugar, and FUELR does not give it a carbohydrate figure. That means this is not a like-for-like swap for a 25g-carb Isotonic pouch in a fuelling plan. Check the current NZ pouch panel before relying on an exact amount for your own plan.

Two hundred milligrams of caffeine in one pouch is a meaningful amount. Include coffee, energy drinks and pre-workout in the same day's total. Beta-alanine can produce a temporary skin tingle; that sensation is separate from caffeine's alertness effect and is not a measure of how well a gel is fuelling you. FUELR's claims that its caffeine feels smooth or avoids a crash are brand positioning, not an experience anyone can guarantee.

Build a plan from the label, not the word "gel"

For a long event, decide your carbohydrate plan first and count the grams from the Isotonic pouches, drinks and food you will actually carry. Our intra-workout carbohydrate guide deals with general amounts and timing. The gut-training guide covers how to practise the plan before a race. This FUELR guide is about selecting the right pouch within that plan.

If caffeine is part of your strategy, read the Caffeinated pouch separately and test it in training. It should not quietly replace one of your planned carbohydrate servings. The FUELR collection shows the six NZ listings and live availability.

FAQ

Why do some NZ Supps listings say Fresh Supps? Those gel listings still carry an older label in our catalogue. The pouches themselves are FUELR, as printed on the pack. Check the exact formula and flavour shown on the product you order.

How many carbs are in the Isotonic gel? FUELR's current official page lists 25g hydrolysed carbohydrate per pouch. Check the exact NZ pouch before counting it in your fuelling plan.

Does the Caffeinated gel also provide 25g carbs? Do not assume so. The pouch is labelled zero sugar, and FUELR's page lists caffeine and performance ingredients rather than a carbohydrate amount. Check the current NZ pouch panel.

How much caffeine is in a Caffeinated pouch? FUELR lists 200mg per full pouch. Count caffeine from other drinks or supplements you use that day.

Do I need to chase the Isotonic gel with water? FUELR says its isotonic formulation can be consumed without water at the same moment. Keep drinking as needed across the session.

Which flavours does NZ Supps carry? Isotonic: Raspberry, Grape, Orange and Cola. Caffeinated: Blue Raspberry and Lemon Lime. Check live stock before ordering.
