If you're after an energy drink without the sugar hit, you've got plenty of options. Alani Energy comes in a 355ml can with 110mg caffeine and 787mg taurine, zero sugar and 13 calories. Flavours span Strawberry Sunrise, Witches Brew, Dream Float, Juicy Peach, Cosmic Stardust and Watermelon, one of the widest flavour spreads in the whole range. Bucked Up Energy: 105mg, five flavours

Cellucor C4 Carbonated RTD: 150mg, seven flavours
Cellucor C4 Carbonated RTD is a 473ml can at 150mg caffeine, zero sugar and 30 calories, plus 2000mg beta-alanine and 1650mg L-citrulline, which puts it closer to a training drink than a straight energy can. Seven flavours are stocked: Jolly Rancher Peach, Jolly Rancher Green Apple, Purple Frost, Frozen Bombsicle, Twist Lime, Cotton Candy and Strawberry Watermelon. Ghost Energy RTD: two sizes, sixteen flavours
Ghost runs two formats side by side. The 250ml can, in Peach, Creaming Soda, Warheads Watermelon and Original, is 80mg caffeine, 500mg taurine, 50mg NeuroFactor and 45mg vitamin C, sugar free, around 8 calories, from $5.49 a can. The 500ml can, in Blue Raspberry, Peaches, Ice Tea Lemonade, Strawbango, Grape, Lemon Lime, Warheads Sour Green Apple and Warheads Watermelon, steps up to 160mg caffeine, 1000mg taurine, 1000mg L-carnitine and 150mg Alpha-GPC, sugar free, around 5 calories, from $7.00 a can. Both sizes drop in a 12-pack: $5.00 per can for the 250ml, $6.67 per can for the 500ml.
Nexus PER4M RTD: 160mg, Blue Sour Straps

Ryse Fuel Energy Drink: 200mg, six flavours
Ryse Fuel Energy Drink is the strongest can in the zero-sugar canned range: 473ml, 200mg natural caffeine, 200mg Cognizin Citicoline, zero sugar, zero calories (contains phenylalanine). How to pick between them
If flavour variety matters most, Ghost's 16-flavour spread across two sizes and Cellucor's seven Jolly Rancher-style flavours give you the most to rotate through without getting bored. If you want the lowest caffeine to ease into, Ghost's 250ml can at 80mg is the gentlest option in the zero-sugar lineup, and a reasonable place to start if you haven't tried a canned energy drink before. If you want the strongest single can, Ryse Fuel's 200mg tops the range, with Cognizin Citicoline alongside it rather than a plain caffeine hit.
Two of these, Cellucor and Nexus, also carry beta-alanine and citrulline at doses closer to a training formula than a straight energy drink, so they're worth a look if you're picking a can to double as a pre-training drink rather than just a pick-me-up.
