What Iso 100 is

Iso 100 is Dymatize's hydrolysed whey protein isolate. The whey goes through cross-flow microfiltration to strip out most of the fat, lactose and carbohydrate, then part of it is hydrolysed, meaning the protein chains are already partly broken down before you drink it. What lands in the scoop is 25 g of protein for around 120 calories.

What is in a serve

Each 33 g scoop carries 25 g of protein, 5.5 g of BCAAs and 2.6 g of leucine, with glutamine and glutamic acid listed at 4406 mg. Fat sits at 1 g and total sugars at 1 g. The formula is sweetened with sucralose and steviol glycosides rather than added sugar.

The Fudge Brownie version

Fudge Brownie is built on cocoa powder processed with alkali, which is the darker, mellower cocoa rather than the sharp kind. It reads chocolatey without the roasted edge of the plain chocolate version, and it takes milk well if you want it richer. Sodium runs a little higher here at 210 mg, and potassium chloride puts potassium at 240 mg per serve.

I've been using chocolate protein powders from different brands for years, so the fudge brownie flavour sounded really promising. However, once I tried it, it mostly tasted like a watered-down version of a standard chocolate protein powder. I've noticed the same thing with other Dymatize flavours as well; they seem lighter and more diluted compared to other brands when mixed with just water in a shaker bottle. That said, I do really like how easily it mixes and that it's a hydrolyzed whey isolate. Considering I'm lactose intolerant, it has been very easy on my stomach.
