What caffeine does

Caffeine is the most studied performance ingredient there is. It blocks adenosine, the brain chemical that makes you feel tired, so you feel more alert and perceive hard efforts as easier. That is why it sits at the centre of almost every stim pre-workout and energy drink on this page.

How much is in these products

  • Light (80 to 150 mg per serve): canned energy drinks and moderate-stim pre-workouts. A standard flat white is around 100 to 150 mg.
  • Standard (150 to 250 mg): most full-dose pre-workouts, roughly two coffees.
  • Strong (250 to 400 mg): high-stim formulas built for experienced users. Start with half a scoop.

How to use it

Take it 20 to 30 minutes before training. Keep total daily intake in mind, including coffee, and avoid it within six hours of bed. If you want the pump and endurance benefits without the buzz, our stim-free pre-workouts use the same base formulas minus the caffeine.
