Plant & Vegan Protein

Not always. Plant protein describes where the protein comes from, while vegan covers every ingredient in the tub. Ghost Vegan Protein and Pillar Performance Vegan Protein Isolate say vegan in their names. For the others, check the ingredient list and any certification on the label for your flavour.

Ghost Vegan Protein lists 21 g per serve, Pillar Performance Vegan Protein Isolate lists 20.5 g and Macro Mike Premium Almond Protein lists around 21 g. Serve sizes differ between brands, so compare the panel for the flavour you want.

The Macro Mike almond and peanut ranges contain nuts by name, and some other flavours are nut flavoured, such as Ghost Vegan Protein Peanut Butter Cereal Milk. Macro Mike Golden Smooth Pea Protein is pea based. Read the allergen statement on every flavour before you buy.

Plant proteins can feel thicker than whey. More liquid, a blender or a longer shake usually helps, and our guide below covers the easiest fixes.

Macro Mike sells sample packs for its Luxe, Golden Smooth Pea and Peanut Plant ranges, with single serves of several flavours. Full tubs run from 10 serves in a 400 g Macro Mike tub to 28 serves in Ghost Vegan Protein.
